Dogs can be possessive of their humans in the same way people are with their significant others, but how often do they hold hands?
This hilariously adorable footage of a golden retriever’s sly ways of being with her owner proves it.
In the video, we can see Carissa Germany filming from the backseat of the car after their golden retriever Lucy beat her to ride shotgun next to her husband.
Lucy then proceeds to triumphantly put her paw on the husband, Jacob, as if to hold his hand while he drives. With a sly backward glance and smirk to Carissa, Lucy sure knows she’s succeeded.
Not surprisingly, the video quickly went viral with the original one uploaded by Carissa having over a hundred thousand views.
And netizens didn’t shy from expressing their thoughts on Lucy and her devious ways.
One person commented: “The look back was priceless she knew what she was doing hahahaha.”
Another said: “I am hysterical… you can’t get any cuter than that dog sitting in the front seat oh my God.”
Meanwhile, other people shared similar stories of their possessive pets or talked about how they wish their dogs acted more like Lucy. We can understand the jealousy. Lucy seems like a pretty spectacular dog to have around, even if it does mean giving up the front seat sometimes.

In an interview with The New York Times, Dr. Helen Fisher, a chief adviser from the popular dating service Match.com, say that owning a dog can be a good way to attract partners as it’s an indicator of a man’s ability to be nurturing.
“Having a dog really says something about you. It says you can care for a creature, that you can follow a schedule and get home to feed it, that you can walk it and love it and spend time with it.”
You heard it right from an expert, so any single men out there better be looking into taking in a pet of your own.
“That’s the bottom line message that women get when they see a man with a dog: He’s capable of nurturing, of giving without receiving a lot, of caring for another. He’s made a commitment to this animal. And one thing women have needed for years and years is a partner who could share the load, be responsible, care for them if they’re sick and show up on time.”
