Summer is back again and even if we appreciate the heat and sunshine, our furry friends find it hard to enjoy a hot summer day. It’s a good thing that there are simple yet tasty frozen treats that we can prepare for them! Here is an amazingly easy do-it-yourself frozen dog treat recipe that we can all try to make courtesy of Jess and her Siberian huskies Oakley, Memphis and Shelby aired on their YouTube channel “Gone To The Snow Dogs.”

To make this treat, you only need to have a watermelon and coconut milk. You can also include honey, if you prefer. The huskies are suckers for honey so Jess included it in her recipe. Yep. As simple as that. Even the ingredients you need are really easy to find.

Watermelons are definitely fitting for this frozen treat because they are not only filled with refreshing goodness, they are also great for your dog’s health.

To make the recipe easier, look for seedless watermelons so you won’t have to waste time in removing the seeds. The amount of watermelon that you ought to use entirely depends on you. Jess used half of the watermelon she bought because hey, three hungry huskies need to be fed!

Cutting the watermelon in half also makes it easier for you to scoop the meat of the fruit. Get as much as you need and puree the watermelon using the blender. Once this step is done, you can now add the other ingredients.

Add your desired amount of honey, if you like it in your treat. Next comes the coconut milk which is also really great for your dog’s wellness. You see, this treat is not only meant to make summer more enjoyable for your furry friends, but it is also perfect in keeping your pets healthy.

Once the other ingredients are mixed, you simply have to power your blender on again to ensure that all is mixed well and for your treat to really have that amazing blend of sweetness from the watermelon and honey and creaminess from the coconut milk.

Now that all of your ingredients are mixed nicely, the next thing that you have to do is to pour the concoction into ice molds. If you use silicone molds, make sure you put them inside trays in order to make it less messy while you are pouring the mixture and when you finally place it in the freezer.

There you have it! After placing your molds in the freezer, you only need to wait for a few hours before getting them out for your dogs to enjoy. Using cute shapes for your molds can also add to this frozen treat’s charm. You can even use the empty shell of the watermelon as your container when you serve this treat to your furry pals!
