Getting a haircut can be a scary thing, especially if you have long hair that has taken years to grow out. With that being said, it’s just hair and sometimes the man-bun has got to go. This man was put on the spot by his girlfriend, for a makeover on the Rachel Ray Show and after it’s done he looks like a completely new man.
Who knew a haircut could be so transformative?
Justin, along with his girlfriend and family, were in the front row of the Rachel Ray Show when he agreed on the ‘manover.’
When Rachel Ray calls on him to come to on stage, you can see the anxiety in Justin’s face as he contemplates the possible outcomes. That’s when they start talking about chopping off his man-bun, he lets his hair down so we can see just how long it is.
With his hair now draped down past his shoulders, he explains that it took his 5 years to grow it that long. According to Justin, his last haircut had been 2-years prior and was a trim. Rachel then asks his girlfriend and family if they’re ready to see it go? They all quickly reply with “yes.”
Justin agrees to the makeover with an expert stylist, Kyan Douglas. They get right to it, chopping a good chunk of the man-bun off before he even sits in the chair
With Justin’s hair partially in a bun, Kyan proceeds to take his sheers and chop off a huge portion of the hair. You can hear the audience’s audible gasps as the hair stylist clips the ponytail completely off.
Kyan tells the show he was inspired by a bar in Brooklyn called, The Boobie Trap. The bar offers a free bottle of booze if you let them cut your man-bun and nail it to the wall. When it came time for the big reveal, people in the crowd were speechless.
Kyan works his magic when Justin comes out. he looks like a new man.
Justin comes out with a smile on his face, he hasn’t even seen what he looks like yet! You can see in his girlfriend’s reaction, the new look is a hit. The whole crowd can’t even believe it’s the same man.
Justin’s appearance on Rachel Ray went viral, millions of people on the internet watched the man-bun makeover. Many of whom, didn’t agree with the decision to chop it all off.
Over 2.5 million people have viewed the ‘manover’ on YouTube.
On top of the millions of viewers, 6.3k liked the video and thousands of left comments. Many people sincerely disliked the haircut and the idea that a man can’t have long hair.
“I’m so over the hate for guy’s with long hair. It doesn’t emasculate or make them less attractive… Let them be.”
“Ugh, they ruined his hair. What’s wrong with men having long hair? NOTHING. Sometimes they should just leave them alone.”
