Serena Williams donates a huge amount from title winnings to Australian brush fire relief!

.The Australian brush fires have been burning since September 2019, these fires have caused mass devastation all across the country. Pro tennis player, Serena Williams, was compelled to give away her prize money in support of the brush fires. It was the first title she’s won in over 3 years and she selflessly donated it!

This really just shows what a great person Serena is.

Serena Williams recently won the ASB Classic Match, only she donated 100% of her 1st place purse to the Australian wildfire relief

It’s been years since Serena Williams has won a big match, she competed in the ASB Classic this past week and beat fellow American, Jessica Pegula, 6-3 & 6-4. The match was played in Auckland, New Zealand, a country that is also being affected by the fires.

The 38-year-old athlete announced at the beginning of the tournament, that any title money she won would all be donated to help the fires.

Her prize money totaled at $43,000, a wonderful gesture from a kind-hearted athlete

The pro tennis player is set to play in the Australian Open, which is the contest she’s won 7 of her 23 Grand Slam Single titles at. This title is the top-notch athletes 73rd and counting, in a statement she explained:

“I’ve been playing Australia for over 20 years and it’s been really hard for me to watch all the news and everything that’s been happening in Australia with all the fires. So I decided that I would donate all my prize money for a great cause.” Willams expressed to reporters.

Serena isn’t the only celebrity making big donations, Chris Hemsworth flat out donated a million dollars to the cause

Chris Hemsworth took to Instagram to pledge a whopping 1 million dollars toward the catastrophe, encouraging others to donate anything they can.

“Hi everyone. Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too. Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated. In my bio I’ve added links to support the fire fighters, organisations and charities who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time. Beyond appreciative to everyone around the world for their well wishes and donations. It really does make a difference, so dig deep! Love ya.” Said his post

Famous people everywhere are donating loads of money to the brush fire relief. Russel Crowe even used his win at the Golden Globes to bring awareness to the tragedy and it’s believed cause, Climate Change. In a statement read by Jennifer Aniston, he said:
