What do you mean Morgan Freeman didn’t always have his white hair and signature freckles? And Dr. Phil wasn’t always bald and mustached? Yes, it may seem surreal, but quite a lot of our favorite “old man” celebrities weren’t always so.
Though some of these may not surprise you if you’ve watched any classic 80’s movies. Think of this as both a revelation and a trip down memory lane.
1. Ian Mckellen

It’s hard to imagine Sir Mckellen as anything other than our beloved, grey-bearded wizard with a pointy hat. But truth is, there was once a time when Ian Mckellen wasn’t Gandalf or anything close (can you imagine?). It’s familiar and unfamiliar at the same time!
2. Samuel L. Jackson

And look at him when he was younger on the left.
Hold on to your butts! Before he was known as Colonel Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sam Jackson was already a recognizable face in the 80s and 90s. His most memorable film moments have got to be losing his arm to a Velociraptor, and denying Anakin the rank of master.
3. James Earl Jones

While his voice is definitely the thing you know him for, voice acting isn’t James Earl Jones’ only skill. He can deliver incredibly on the visual side of things too! Seeing him in his youth feels unreal almost. Little did he know as that youngster in the bottom image that’d he become the voice of Darth Vader.

I don’t think there’s a single person who hasn’t seen Harrison Ford in his youth, unless they’ve been living under a rock. The face of our favorite smuggler, and pilot of the Millennium Falcon, is unforgettable no matter his age. Still, we love our half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder no matter his age.

It’s nearly unimaginable to think of Morgan Freeman without his white hair, freckles and smooth, honey and molasses-sounding voice. But the senior actor once joined the air force, and his young pilot’s mugshot made everyone go crazy.
6. Jeff Goldblum

We grew up watching him in Independence Day, The Fly and Jurassic Park, and he aged really well. Now, our favorite mathematician, sorry – chaotician, is sporting silver-white hair that suits him quite a bit.

Footloose and Tremors are some of my favorite movies, and that’s mostly thanks to Kevin Bacon’s star performances. Despite his age now, he’s surprisingly still light on his feet as a dancer.

We might have been spoiled with Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and now Robert Pattison as Batman. But anyone who grew up in the 80s probably still holds Michael Keaton’s Batman in high esteem. Even decades later, he hasn’t lost his touch as an actor, as we saw when he played Vulture in Spider-Man : Far From Home.

A man who needs no introduction, nor is his face one you’d ever fail to recognize. He’s been in movies of every kind, and Nick Cage pretty much looks the same, with or without some facial hair and wrinkles.

Tom Hanks is as wholesome an actor as he is a skilled one. He graced our screens in his youth with Sleepless In Seattle, You’ve Got Mail and Forrest Gump. He also provided Woody’s memorable and unmistakable voice in Toy Story.
Seeing how many of these actors aged is a fun experience, and it’s even more fun to see how little it changes anything with some of them. Some wrinkles and greying hairs do very little to change the charm that they still have. It’s exciting to think about what future projects they’ll be working with too!
